Leaving Roma

|
Tonight is our last night in Rome, and Italy :( Provided our nation doesn't do something so stupid that terrorists cause the airports to be shut down again in the next 24 hours we should be safely in the air and on our way to Philadelphia.

It's been extremely fun, I've somehow managed to shoot 250+ photographs in the past 12 days and it still seems like I've missed some stuff. Regardless, Contiki tours will grind you into the ground (I can't imagine trying to do the 9 countries in 26 days tour) and the two days I have back before returning to work will never be enough.

Now it's one more quick stroll down by the colosseum then to catch the cramped metro train (note, auschwitz humor is an aquired taste) back to the hotel to frantically pack all of our breakable souveniers before heading out to our farewell dinner.

I think I'll make a gallery (and possibly travel) section when I get back.

Ciao

Indy's library found

|
While out here in venice I made it a goal to find the library/tomb from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (the one featured in venice obviously). 2 hours of searching turned up nothing* so off to the local internet cafe. a quick google search says the library is actually San Barnaba just off of St. Mark's square. we're off to grab a real picture now, this one (from the site with the info) will have to do for now.

*Aimee insists she saw the library and I just didn't believe her, I like my version better

P.S. Non standard (ie english 104) keyboards really suck when you try and mark up HTML!

Italy

|
I (hopefully) leave for italy in a day and a half. It's odd. I should be really excited, but I just can't seem to work up to that. No rememberences or vows for revenge here. It seems too much like a movie still - watching it on TV, it has to be CG, this stuff doesn't happen.

Unreal.

For levity: another cat - big in a different way.

Cockeyed

|

I got to talk to Rob Cockerham of www.cockeyed.com fame today - if you haven't stumbled across it yet... well then it's pretty likely you haven't stumbled across this site either, but anyway.  Cockeyed has been a great distraction during slow times at my various jobs and tends to be one of those sites I read everything on, forget about for a little while, then come back and read everything all over again.

Rob had a donations link set up to help with his upcomming "how much ink is in a cartridge" experiment - that makes a lot more sense if you read his site first - but I ended up being a little too late to help out.  Still wanting to contribute, Rob said they'd try and come up with something that I could be a proud sponsor of.  So far "how much is inside a keg" (a well known quantity I'm sure ;) ) or "how much is inside dry ice" have been suggested - regardless it's pretty cool to take a small part of one of my favorite sites.  Oy, now I've slipped into fanboi mode.

In other news my job is secure in that people love the tracking tool I've created and no one understands the black magic beneith it but me, huzzah!
